Best Prescription Strength Vegan Antiperspirant [Roll On]
This cruelty-free antiperspirant contains the strongest and most effective active ingredient known for reducing annoying and uncomfortable underarm wetness- aluminum chloride.
This key ingredient is different from the rest, as it deeply penetrates sweat glands to prevent sweat from rising to the surface of the skin.
Additionally, aluminum chloride trumps other aluminum- based ingredients due to its small molecule size that enables it to fill sweat ducts more effectively than other aluminum compounds.
Certain Dri’s vegan antiperspirant addresses the root of excessive sweating and odor caused by perspiration, instead of simply masking the issue with perfume and fake fragrances.
Certain Dri uses a water-based formula, as opposed to alcohol-based, making this product much gentler on the skin that prescription antiperspirants.
To increase this antiperspirant’s efficiency, apply at night (when there is less sweat present) to allow the aluminum chloride to deeply penetrate the skin and plug pores.

Deodorant Vs. Antiperspirant
You might see these two products lumped into the same grocery aisle and interchanged in conversations of controlling body odor.
However, there is one crucial difference between deodorant and antiperspirant: deodorant does not prevent sweat, while antiperspirants do.
To truly understand the difference between these two products, we need to understand some simple body chemistry.
The bottom line: body odor is produced by the bacterial breakdown of sweat.
Deodorant
Deodorant contains ingredients that are designed to eliminate or mask the smell caused by the bacteria.
While many natural or organic vegan deodorants utilize essential oils or natural scents to achieve a pleasant smell, generic deodorants often use synthetic and artificial fragrances to prevent your pits from stinking.
Antiperspirant
Antiperspirants on the other hand, are designed to stop the body from perspiring and block sweat from reaching the skin.
How do antiperspirants achieve this noble feat?
They contain an active ingredient that blocks pores so that minimal sweat can pass through.
The mystery ingredient? You guessed it – aluminum.
This ingredient is almost always present in antiperspirants, and even in many deodorants.
So How Do I Choose?
From a natural standpoint, it makes much more sense to use deodorant, as opposed to antiperspirant.
Apart from the fact that sweating is a necessary function that keeps our bodies balanced and healthy, sweating is essential to detoxing the body of heavy metals and other toxins.
Of course, none of us want to be “that person” at the gym that nobody can bare to squat next to.
However, even the sweatiest people may want to consider swapping their antiperspirant out for a stronger vegan deodorant (try one of my favorites listed above)!
Below I’ve elaborated on the many benefits to using non-aluminum deodorants and the harmful effects aluminum can have on the body.
Aluminum in Vegan Deodorants and Antiperspirants – What’s the Deal?
As we’ve discussed, aluminum blocks pores and prevents sweat from reaching the skin.
While this may seem like desirable effect for those of us that frequent the gym or tend to get a little bit sweatier than others, it comes with a price.
Aluminum has been linked to a laundry list of diseases and illnesses including breast cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, kidney problems, and bone disorders.
Apart from these severe side effects of aluminum, this ingredient is also known to cause irritation and allergic reactions.
Have you ever felt self conscious about scratching your armpits (like you’re some sort of monkey)?
The itching sensations you experienced can likely be traced back to the aluminum that was present in your antiperspirant.
People with sensitive skin or allergies should avoid aluminum-based skin care products and instead, look for vegan deodorants with organic and natural compounds (ingredients that you can pronounce and come from nature).
