I disagree with the assertion that cats cannot get a sufficient amount of taurine and arginine from a plant based food. I have been feeding my cat Ami Vegan cat food for nearly 2 years. She is healthy and happy. Ami contains both those amino acids.

It is true that cats are natural meat eaters. It is also true that humans are not the natural caretakers of cats. It is not my job to kill other animals to feed a cat. Cats who live in a feral state do not live anywhere near as long as cats who live with humans. My cat doesn’t get to eat meat, but she sleeps on soft cushions and is more than 10 years old. In the wild, she would have been eating meat for her whole life which probably would have ended many years ago. Vegan at 10 beats meat eater dead at 3. And her health is fine. The comparison this author gives of a human eating only iceberg letter and taking vitamins is not accurate. My cat proves it everyday.

I haven’t tried everything on this list, but I personally like So Delicious Cashew milk ice cream dark chocolate truffle and HALO TOP Coconut milk Sea salt caramel. They are delicious!!

Just a head’s up that there’s an error in the article. The section for Zen Principle has pictures and links to Swanson Organic pea protein powder, which has a very different nutritional profile than Zen Principle. I use Zen Principle protein powder, and was a bit confused while reading. I imagine others might be too.

Vegenaise does actually taste good. Definitely less heavy than what I remember mayo to be. When part of a “salad” base though, it does thin out a lot.
